How to Cut from Rough Stone to C&P Gemstone in GemCloud

Introduction:
Transforming rough stones into polished gemstones is a vital process in the gemstone industry. GemCloud's Production Module streamlines this process, allowing you to efficiently manage and document each step. This guide will walk you through the process of cutting a rough stone into a C&P (Cut & Polished) gemstone or diamond using GemCloud.

Steps to Cut from Rough Stone to C&P Gemstone in GemCloud

Step 1:
Access the Production Module from the left menu, and select Production from the dropdown options.

Step 2:
In the top right corner, click the Create Production Sheet button. A pop-up window will appear. Select the product type (e.g., Re-Assortment, Cutting, etc.) and choose Cutting. Next, select the template as One-to-One or Multiple-to-Multiple, then choose the product category: either Rough to C&P Gemstones or Rough to C&P Diamonds. Finally, click the Create button.

Step 3:
Locate the Scan/Type to Add option. Click on it, enter the SKU of your rough stone, and then click Add.

Step 4:
Three new sections will populate:

  1. Original Item – Displays the details of the rough stone prior to cutting.
  2. New Item After Production – Enter details for the polished stone, including new variety, C&P shape, dimensions, quantity, weight, new cost per unit, and any comments.
  3. Cost and Recovery – Provides information on process losses, recovery, cost of service per unit, total service cost, and any additional comments.

Step 5:
At the top, click the Details button to add specific information related to the split. Next to it, the Service Info button allows you to input the cost of service per unit. You can also check a box to auto-populate the total product cost. After entering all necessary information, click Update.

Step 6:
In the top menu, the Action button dropdown provides options to reopen the product, copy new items to a list (if you wish to add them to inventory), export to Excel, or delete the production sheet.

Step 7:
Once all production steps are completed, you have two options: click on the Complete button to finalize the production, or select Save Production from the dropdown to save it as an open split.

Step 8:
If you choose to click on Complete, the cutting process will be finalized. When searching for that child stone, you will see the updated weight loss and service cost reflected in the total cost.

Conclusion:
Using GemCloud to cut a rough stone into a C&P gemstone or diamond ensures a systematic approach to production management.
